Coffee Cocktail Tables: The coffee, or cocktail table, is probably the most functional of the bunch. It is a low table typically placed in front of a sofa where magazines can be placed and coffee or cocktails served. Here, the general rule of thumb is that you should look for a table that is at or about the same height as your sofa or chair seat cushion, but no more than an inch or two shorter as you do not want it to be difficult or uncomfortable for your guests to reach.
